Efficient Strong Single Glazing

Efficient single glazing doesn’t exist right? Wrong. That’s not the case anymore. And strong, structurally sound single glazing doesn’t exist either? Actually it does. Thanks to innovative new technology and design, the modern glass we use in our aluminium windows and doors is one of the strongest and most energy efficient glazing products available in Australia. In fact, as a standard minimum at Southside Aluminium Windows and Glass, we use the best glass available for your type of application every time.

Why toughened glass?
Your safety and comfort are our top priority at Southside Aluminium Windows. Providing your home or business with the strongest, safest glass is a standard, not an option. We use a toughened safety glass that is ideal in large vertical glass walls or overhead applications. This provides resistance to physical impact, especially preferred in homes with small children, or windows that are on the property boundary.
Temperatures change throughout the day and night, so with modern, energy efficient glass, we aim to smooth out these highs and lows. By slowing the rate that heat enters and escapes from the building, we can more easily control the comfort level. One option is to use manufactured glass with a PVB interlayer that eliminates 99% of ultraviolet radiation. Toughened glass can also be manufactured with solar control glass to improve your home energy efficiency.
How does toughened safety glass work?
Good quality safety glass is made of two or more sheets of glass that are fused together with a PVB interlayer, to create one single toughened pane of glass. The interlayer acts as a glue that, on high impact when the glass cracks, holds the pieces of glass in place, preventing shatter. The interlayer combined with the thickness of the glass act as resistance from physical impact and penetration. This makes your safety glass ideal for street facing windows and doors where extra security may be required. Safety glass we supply glass in thickness from 6.38mm to 12.38mm, depending on the size of the window and security required.
All of our aluminium frames can be fitted with the glass thickness you require, without needing unsightly add-ons that our competitors designs require. This means you won’t compromise on style for security and comfort. This glass is also available in a range of tints, from clear to cool blue and bronze and soft white. If you require safety glass, but energy efficiency is also a priority, we can manufacture your windows using solar control glass. By using solar control glass, this means your building, whether it’s your home or a commercial space, can reduce energy consumption, saving you money on heating and cooling, which typically accounts for 38% of household energy use. Have you thought about Thermal Glass?
Thermal glass is an even more effective solution, with an innovative reflective layer, used to bounce heat either back outside off the glass, or back into the room, depending on the season. Thermal glass effectively, can double the efficiency of climate control.
